First published on the 24th of October, 1929, the essay was based on a series of lectures she delivered at Newnham College and Girton College, two women's colleges at Cambridge University in October 1928. While this extended essay in fact employs a fictional narrator and narrative to explore women both as writers and characters in fiction, the manuscript for the delivery of the series of lectures, titled Women and Fiction, and hence the essay, are considered nonfiction. 10:00 am: Historic Mercersburg Garden Tour10:00 am: Historic Mercersburg Garden Tour – Join us for Historic Mercersburg’s 2nd Annual Garden Tour! This beloved tradition will be held on Saturday, June 22nd from 10AM-2PM. Featured gardens will be open for your viewing pleasure, with guides on hand to answer questions. Tour the gardens and outbuildings, along with the gardens of many of our neighbors. Tickets to Historic Mercersburg’s Garden Tour can be purchased at the Fendrick Library. The tickets will include a self-guided map of the featured gardens in Mercersburg. Please contact the library for more information. This charitable event is presented by the Mercersburg’s Women’s Club and benefits the Fendrick Library.
