Family Tales and Letters
Local author, Lloyd Muller, will be presenting his newest book
"Charleston, South Carolina with its surrounding rice plantations was the richest city in the world during the late 18th century. A young girl, Wyanne Malone, comes over from Ireland during the late colonial period indentured to one of the city’s most powerful families,
Covering almost four decades, her story takes Wyanne from plantation life to the turbulent Charleston life where she meets her husband, has a family, and prospers until the outbreak of the Revolutionary War. Remaining a staunch Tory loyal to the British king, her life becomes one of conflict as the tragedies of war unfold in front of her. Families become divided and neighbors become enemies as the struggle for independence becomes ever fiercer.
Told with careful attention to detail about vivid people creating futures, follow Wyanne’s story as she sees a way of life she has come to love dissolve. Hear her tales and read her letters as she describes these momentous changes to her children from the vantage point having lived her life to its fullest and with an enduring sense of hope" - lloydmuller.com
