  • The Fendrick Book Group Schedule for books and meetings is posted on the library’s Calendar of Events . Click here to view the schedule for books and meetings. Please contact the library for more information about joining the Book Group.  Meeting locations will vary each month.
  • Historic Mercersburg Walking Tours Do you know your town’s history? Meet at the Fendrick Library for a free tour, all ages are welcome! No registration needed. No events scheduled at this time.
  • Fendrick Library Used Book Sale- Coming May 2023 during Mercersburg Springfest! All books at the sale are donated by generous community members! Great prices and many genres to choose from: biographies, novels, classic literature, cookbooks, children’s, young adult, health, recreation, religion, history, FREE Magazines and much more! All proceeds benefit the Fendrick Library, thank you for your continued support!
  • Weekly Preschool Storytime August-May. Our Preschool Storytime group will meet at the library each Wednesday morning at 10:30 am, open to the community. Each week we will share stories, make crafts, enjoy snacks and meet new friends! Please call the library at 717-328-9233 for more information or check the calendar of events.
  • Beginner Crochet Series Beginning September 28th, 2022 at 6:00 pm-8:00 pm. Join us for a fun, relaxing evening learning the age-old craft of crochet!  Classes will continue weekly, schedule to be decided. $30.00 project fee per person includes all supplies and instructions or $20 per person if you supply your own materials.  Click here for a schedule of crochet lessons 1-6.   • Health Talks hosted by Martha Swope, RN Mobile Psychiatric Nurse for Franklin and Fulton Counties Education Training & Consultations. Check the Calendar of Events for more details.
  • Block Party for all ages! Meet friends at the library every Monday evening for a block party!  All ages are welcome to join in this open-ended block building activity.  At each stage of growth children develop new creative ways to play with blocks! Block play is a fun creative way to teach skills: 
    Physical- gross & fine motor skills, strength, coordination
    Social- communicate, share, cooperate
    Cognitive- problem solving, size relationships, patterns
    Language- names of colors, shapes, discuss structures

About Our Programs

The Fendrick Library proudly serves our local community through sponsored programs.  Our aim is to serve all age groups, and we especially encourage our children and youth to engage in our various library programs. 

  • A weekly Story Hour meets on Wednesday mornings throughout the school year.  It is an hour filled with stories, crafts, activities, and a snack for preschoolers (siblings welcome).  Mothers, fathers and caregivers are encouraged to attend with their children. Please see more details below under Current Programs.
  • A Summer Reading Program is offered at the close of every school year.  This program features an exciting theme each year, with related activities, crafts and books for children to explore.
  • Join a monthly Book Discussion Group, check the link below or library calendar for more details.  
  • Guest Lecturers and Book Signings by local authors are scheduled as often as possible.
  • “Used Book Sales” held annually in May during the Mercersburg Spring Fest and in September during the Mercersburg Townfest. All books at the sale are donated by generous community members!
