Introduction to Tapestry Weaving
Presented by Nancy Walker and Jef Savage.
Tapestry weaving has a history dating back to Ancient Egypt. As one of the oldest forms of woven textile it has been used to create clothing, purses, table covers, chair backs, and some of the world's largest pieces of textile art in the form of wall hangings. Participants will learn the basics of weaving to create a sampler of basic weaves, plus color blending, terms, tools, materials and techniques.
Instruction is FREE. Each program has a $10 fee to cover materials, payable at registration. All other tools will be available for use during the program. This program is designed for 5th grade - adult participants to learn history, cultural context, traditions, practices, and applications of fiber arts.
